These papers are created when an investigation is undertaken into individuals who appear to be liable to pay land tax. They contain details of land ownership changes, notifications sent to individuals requesting details of land usage as land used solely for primary production is exempt, and any other correspondence between Land Tax and the individual. Where an individual is required to pay tax, a return must be lodged, and the relevant Tax Defaulter's Papers are then placed on the Taxpayers' File. This is a random sample only. (12/3650). 1 box.
