In this study, Sprague-Dawley rats were fed with high-fat diet followed by a low-does streptozotocin injection to induce type 2 diabetes (T2D). The T2D rat model was employed to investigate the protective effects of some traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on metabolic disturbance in T2D and 16s rRNA genes analysis of fecal samples was also carried out. The aims of this study were to evaluate the protective effects of TCM against T2D and provide a new insight of the underlying mechanism through improving gut microbiota.
