VPRS 14319 Register of Inward Correspondence, Land Sales Branch

This series was maintained in the Land Sales Branch of the Department of Crown Lands and Survey and registered correspondence received relating to the sale of Crown land under the auction system and according to other provisions of the Land Acts.Registrations consisted of the registered number, the dates of the letter and of the entry, the name and address of the correspondent, a summary of the subject of the letter and how it was dealt with. This last entry was most usually the number of the file to which the piece of correspondence was attached or a reference to a District Land Office. (These files may be held by PROV in the series identified in the Series Controlled entry.) There may be within a registration, notations of the numbers of other pieces of correspondence recived on the same subject denoted by a letter and a number.
