The Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) at the State and District Level is a measure of poverty that takes into account multiple dimensions of deprivation, such as health, education, and standard of living. It was developed by NITI Aayog, the Government of India's think tank, and was first released in 2021. The latest MPI report, released in 2023. The construction of MPI index is based on National Family Health Survey (NHFS) data.
