Recent bans and voluntary withdrawal of antibiotic use in the livestock industry, including the poultry has created a need for alternative medicines with antimicrobial properties, such as herbs and spices. There is little study about the effects of this large scale and prolonged use of herbs in intestinal gene expression. In this study we investigated the transcriptional effect of continual prolonged oregano supplementation on chicken ileum gene expression.
