资源简介:
This register contains a summary record of applications for residential leases in land districts controlled by the Maitland District Land Board. This tenure was introduced in 1889 under the Crown Lands Act of 1889 (53 Vic. No.21 p128). Residential leases of land for a period not exceeding 28 years could be acquired within a gold field or mineral field for no more than a total area of twenty acres by the holder of a miner's right or mineral licence for the purpose of residence. (1)This register records information such as the number of the application, the name and address of the applicant, date of the application, description of the land applied for, particulars of miner’s right or mineral licence referred to in application, the area of the land, deposits paid, survey fee, provisional rent, date of gazette notice of approval of lease and lease number and any miscellaneous action. The register has a section allotted to each land district administered by the Maitland Land Board Office and, within these sections, entries are ordered chronologically and numerically. There is an index in the front of each register arranged alphabetically by applicants' surnames and an index to districts. Although all land districts are allotted a section only those for the districts of Cassilis, Dungog, Scone and Stroud have entries.Department of Lands circular 12/1935 states that by 31 December 1935 bound registers should be replaced by a card system.
