资源简介:
This collection is referred to as "Archaeological Intensive Assessment of Huntington Municipal Airport (12HU1068) 1993.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is four (4) linear inches. Oversized, photographic, and paper records are all included within this investigation. A majority of the documents were in good condition except for one field record that was heavily torn and stained (Scanned Asset number 1040-0015). This, along with two documents containing tape, was properly cleaned and mended with archival mending tissue. This project contains two Ball State University investigations. The first investigation was a field reconnaissance conducted in May of 1993. All records associated with this particular investigation are designated by the label 93FR36. The second, follow-up investigation was an intensive assessment focused solely on site 12HU1068. All material associated with this project is designated by the label 93IA3. Due to this separation between investigations, each record series within the collection was divided between 93FR36 and 93IA3 folders when appropriate. Thus, there are two folders for the Administrative, Field, Analysis, and Report record series. The Background series contains only documents pertaining to the project as a whole such as reports on the area prior to these investigations. The Background series also contains a document titled “Appendix 1 Testing Proposal for Site 12-HU-1068.” It does not seem to be part of either report found in the collection. This seems to be a separate document, independent of any other document present within the collection. Another anomaly is a field record catalogue with project number 93IA6 dated from November 1993. This is the only mention of this project number in the collection. The intensive assessment was completed one moth prior to the date on this particular form. Also, it seems information about water screen samples was added to the sheet in May 1994, but 93IA3, the number associated with the current investigation, was used. This document was assigned Scanned Asset number 1040-00109 and was placed in the Analysis series. Other records of note are also present within the Analysis series. An Indiana Historic Sites and Structures Inventory for each site investigated is present within the collection (Scanned Asset numbers 1040-0058 through 1040-0107 and 1040-0109). Contained within each of these documents is a map labeled "confidential-not for public disclosure," which originates from the 93FR36 project’s report. It was decided that these maps would be digitized despite the label. Also, a decision to organize these site inventories within the Analysis series was made based on the dates of the forms’ completion, which coincides with each investigation’s conclusion, and the fact that present on the forms are information summarizing the analysis of artifacts.
