Time-dependent 16S rRNA gene sequencing of methanogenic crude oil-degrading enrichment cultures

16S rRNA gene fragments for a time-dependent study reporting the degradation of hydrocarbons in crude oil (light vs heavy) in microcosms (without enrichment) established using produced water from an Albertan oilfield. This data, in combination with chemical measurements and other targeted gene sequencing analyses, was used to assess the roles of microbial community members and candidate phyla that may be responsible involved in the activation and subsequent degradation of susceptible crude oil hydrocarbons.
