Dataset and Statistical Analysis Syntax for: Association Between Alcohol Use and Suicidality in the General Population in Slovenia

This repository contains the anonymized dataset, variable construction syntax, and statistical analysis syntax used in the manuscript Association Between Alcohol Use and Suicidality in the General Population in Slovenia. The data originate from the 2023 National Survey on Tobacco, Alcohol and Other Drugs (ATADD 2023), a nationally representative cross-sectional survey of Slovenian residents aged 15–74 years living in private households. The study examined associations between multiple indicators of alcohol use, including weekly alcohol consumption, binge drinking, alcohol-related harm, dependence symptoms, and concern from others about drinking, and suicidality outcomes, including passive suicidal ideation, active suicidal ideation, and suicide attempts. The repository includes: an anonymized analysis dataset; SPSS syntax used for variable construction; SPSS syntax used for statistical analyses; a data dictionary describing variables, coding schemes, and derived measures. The ATADD 2023 survey was funded by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia and approved by the Commission for Deontological and Ethical Issues at the National Institute of Public Health, Slovenia (Reference No. 631-21/2023-1(324)). The data are shared to promote transparency, reproducibility, and secondary analyses.
