VPRS 7875 Register of Permits to Mine Gold

This series consists of an unused Register of Tribute Agreements in which the printed words on the pages were crossed out and replaced with the phrase 'permits to mine'. The register documents a total of only 5 applications, all related to then existing gold mining leases, nos. 7812 (in the Beechworth Mining District), 7939 (Ballarat), 7941 (Ballarat) and 9903 (X2) (Bendigo). Four of the five are explicitly for no liability mining companies. The exact function of the volume is unclear but the detail contained within each entry complements the relevant entries pertaining to these leases in VPRS 7842 Registers of Applications for Gold Leases. This series was originally titled Register of Permits to Mine by service providers. An evaluation of the supplied documentation in 2025 amended the series title. The series description was also created at this time.
