This database contains 9590 detailed distribution records of 303 Culicoides species belonging to 12 subgenera (plus one undefined subgenus), which were collected from the publicly available data source https://www.cnki.net/ during the period from January 1990 to December 2023. The dataset includes basic information of Culicoides specimens, such as ID, Latin name, alternative names, longitude, latitude, discovery date, collection location and literature source. It provides a crucial data basis for the prevention and control of relevant vector-borne diseases, and will play an important role in future disease prevention and control efforts.
