Genomic sequence of Matsucoccus macrocicatrices, the eastern white pine bast scale

The scale insect, Matsucoccus macrocicatrices, is an emerging pest of eastern white pine in eastern North America. The goal of this study was to identify microsatellite markers from Illumina sequences to use in a population genetics study. Determining the population genetic diversity and structure of the insect will help inform us of its origin and if it is introduced.
