Environmental and community data of chironomid assemblages in European drying river networks

This dataset supports the study entitled " Flow intermittence reshapes the occupancy-frequency distribution of stream chironomid assemblages ", submitted to Inland Waters. It contains environmental variables, species abundance data of chironomids, and site-level metadata from perennial and intermittent sites across three European drying river networks (DRN): the Butižnica River, Croatia, the Bükkösdi-víz, Hungary, and the Velička River, Czechia. The dataset was collected between February 22 and December 21, 2021, using standardized sampling protocols. Chironomid larvae were identified to the lowest possible taxonomic level. The dataset includes abundance data for 155 chironomid taxa and associated environmental variables from 59 sampling sites.
