资源简介:
This dataset contains the results of a survey of 35 patients discharged from UNPHU, whose
objective was to determine the prevalence of bruxism in patients who use nicotine e-
cigarettes (vapes). Data were collected using a structured questionnaire, evaluating the
relationship between bruxism and the duration of e-cigarette use in smokers, the prevalence
of bruxism according to the age of the participants evaluated, according to gender, and the
duration of use.
Bruxism is a parafunctional activity that consists of clenching or grinding the teeth, causing
alterations in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), dental occlusion, and masticatory muscles,
and can consequently lead to premature tooth loss. Data were collected from May to August
2025. The research is cross-sectional, quantitative, and descriptive.
The findings identified 22 patients with signs of bruxism out of 35 patients evaluated,
representing a significant proportion. This highlights the clinical relevance of the problem and
suggests an association between the use of nicotine e-cigarettes and the onset of bruxism.
