Laboratory–acquired infections continue to occur despite advances in laboratory design, professional training, and adherence to laboratory standards. In the event of a laboratory-acquired illness, uncovering the source of infection is a prerequisite for identifying and correcting laboratory deficiencies and preventing future LAIs. We investigated suspected cases of laboratory–acquired salmonellosis using a combination of pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and whole genome sequencing.
