Godspower Ikechukwu Okolotu, Chidiebere Fabian Ozioko, Okiemute Dickson Ofuyekpone, &, Ike Oluka, 2025. ABSTRACT: Soil properties for seven hundred and fifty (750) on – point soil samples were obtained at depth of 0 – 10 cm below the soil horizon and characterized for its texture type using the jar technique. Also, the moisture content features were attained prior microwave/oven drying technique otherwise dehydration for wet basis and dry basis conditions, as well as the moisture variation. These values attributes were used to obtained their impact on the flooding of the area. Resultantly, it was found that: the soil type of the area was sandy loam soil; while the average moisture values for the area were 5.4059% on wet basis, 5.8116 % on dry basis and 0.4057% variation. The variations in the basis range between 0 – 4 %. Thus, a conclusion based on the obtained results prior the soil properties which significantly showed normal features attributed to sandy loam soil with regards to water movement, indicating that the area flooding is not basically influence negatively from the ground type.
