The survey was carried out in May 1993, i.e. one week before the referendum on the Maastricht Treaty with the Edinburgh modifications. # The survey deals with this referendum and political issues connected with this. The following issues are examined: voting intention at the coming referendum; vote at the last general election (on 12 December, 1990); assessment of the information on Denmark's current relations with the EC; vote at the referendum in 1992; voting intention at a hypothetical referendum on Danish membership of/withdrawal from the EC; most important reasons for voting yes/no; interest in politics; the best sources of information (newspapers, radio, TV, talks with other people, delivered information material); whether the respondent has discussed the EC with family members, friends and/or colleagues within the last three weeks; attitude to a number of provisions in the Maastricht Treaty (economic and monetary union with a joint currency; that the EC is responsible for foreign policy towards countries outside the EC; joint security and defence policy within the EC; the legislative power of the European Parliament; that the EC has to take an active part in securing that the working environment and other working conditions are improved in the member states); degree of satisfaction with the opt-outs in the Edinburgh Treaty (joint currency, defence co-operation); whether the respondent would have voted yes in 1992 if she/he had known that the result would be a 'No'; voting intention at a hypothetical referendum on the Maastricht Treaty in 1993 (without the Edinburgh modifications); whether the yes and the no-campaigns have been objective; whether it was important and/or entertaining to follow the election campaign on TV; and whether the respondent has watched the TV programmes in order to be able to make a decision as to how to vote
