How New Quality Productive Forces Reshape China's Position in Global Value Chains

This study investigates a pivotal question at the intersection of global economic governance and national development strategy: how can latecomer economies ascend within global value chains (GVCs) in an era defined by digital and green transitions? I introduce and operationalize the concept of “New Quality Productive Forces” (NQPF), a systemic policy framework in China emphasizing innovation-driven growth, as a multidimensional, testable driver of GVC upgrading.
