This study is based on <i>Celosia argentea</i>, an undervalued crop that shows potential for production enhancement due to elevated leaf nutrient accumulative ability. We investigated propagation using various in vitro culture systems, in semi-solid medium, and under temporary and continuous immersion in liquid media in bioreactors. We also examined the accumulation of leaf Mg, Fe, Ca and Zn to meet the recommended dietary allowance for males and females. The genotypic variance and genetic advance of the mean at 5% selection intensity were also analyzed. The study was conducted in a controlled laboratory environment, and where relevant in an uncontrolled greenhouse environment. The dataset contains all raw data collected for the various experimental objectives.
