Delia antiqua is one of the few insect species known as both winter diapause and summer diapause. It is an ideal experimental material for studying insect diapause. In laboratory condition, temperature and photoperiod is a common environmental signal induced by Delia antiqua diapause. In diapause induction stage, environmental signals were received, and then were transmissed to the downstream factor which determines the diapause or not. The sensitive period of diapause induction events is very important for the survival of the individual. But the study of molecular mechanism of the sensitive period of onion maggot diapause induced by environmental signals is still rare.To study the regulating factors of the summer diapause induction sensitive period of Delia antiqua, we applied transcriptome analysis to find the genes and signaling pathways involved in summer diapause induction, and to reveal the regulation mechanism of summer diapause induction in Delia antiqua.
