Global 0.5° Grid-Scale Multi-Year Snowline Elevation Dataset, 2000–2020

The dataset contains derived 0.5° grid-scale multi-year snowline elevation records for global mountain regions from 2000 to 2020. The main table, snow_line_v2.csv, includes the grid identifier, year, perennial snow/ice area, and high-mountain snowline elevation (HMSE) for each valid 0.5° grid cell. The accompanying shapefile, WorldGrid_05_snow.shp and its associated files, provides the spatial boundaries of the 0.5° grid cells. The grid identifier in the shapefile corresponds to the id field in snow_line_v2.csv, allowing the tabular snowline data to be spatially joined to the grid polygons. HMSE refers to the multi-year snowline elevation used in this study, derived from 30-m perennial snow and ice maps and a 30-m digital elevation model within global mountain regions. Missing or invalid values indicate grid-year records that did not pass the quality-control criteria or lacked sufficient valid snow/ice or land pixels for snowline estimation. Files included in this record: snow_line_v2.csv: derived 0.5° grid-scale HMSE/SLE and perennial snow/ice area records. WorldGrid_05_snow.shp and associated files: 0.5° grid boundary shapefile used for spatial mapping and analysis.
