资源简介:
Semi-structured interviews were conducted in the Alaska Native Villages of Elim, Aniak, and St. Mary's in Western Alaska in January and February 2025. Interviews topics were developed based on the results of workshops conducted in these communities the previous summer (July 2024; see Data from July 2024 Community Workshops conducted in three villages in Western Alaska: Aniak, Elim, and St. Mary's - ScienceBase-Catalog) and included experiences with extreme events, weather disrupted travel, observations of changes to fish species, and perspectives on Traditional Knowledge. These data support a cross-institutional multi-disciplinary project, the Arctic Rivers Project, which seeks to weave Indigenous Knowledges and physical science methods together to increase understanding of climate change and climate adaptation in Alaska. This study was found exempt by the University of Colorado's Institutional Review Board. Participants were recruited based on their participation in workshops and through the use of snowball sampling. Participants were provided with an informed consent document that explained the risks and benefits of participation. This data release provides the semi-structured interview topics and the codebook used to analyze the data. Interview transcripts and specific interview responses are omitted to protect privacy.
