VPRS 10037 Sewerage Authorities Contract Register

One of the main responsibilities of the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission, established in 1906 under the Water Act 1905, was the oversight of local water, irrigation, sewerage drainage and sewerage authorities. Direct management was by the local authorities, but they were under the Commissions general jurisdiction with a standard section of the Commissions Annual Report being devoted to a summary of the activities of local sewerage and water supply authorities under the general supervision of the Commission.The records in this series provides a summary of the contracts framed and let for tender and the progressive payments for the completion of them for the whole of the state. It would have been part of the information needed and gathered by the Commission so that its oversight responsibilities could be carried out.
