b. Construction purpose

Spartina alterniflora is a perennial grass plant native to the intertidal zone along the Atlantic coast of North America. It has strong reproductive and environmental tolerance, and is widely adaptable to temperature. It has become one of the most typical invasive species in coastal wetlands worldwide. In 1979, China introduced Spartina alterniflora for promoting sedimentation, land reclamation, and beach protection. It was rapidly promoted in coastal areas in the 1980s.
