Calculation of energy released rates by transverse cracks and delaminations that appear in the actual damage mechanisms occurring in the 90-degree layer as a function of its thickness

Stresses and displacements along the boundaries are employed to determine key parameters in Fracture Mechanics and Interfacial Fracture Mechanics. This is particularly relevant for evaluating the Energy Release Rates associated with the cracks considered in damage models, such as intralaminar cracks within the 90-degree ply and delamination cracks between the 0- and 90-degree plies. Accurate knowledge of these parameters is essential for identifying the in-situ fracture toughness values of a composite laminate.
