The current study aimed to investigate the present status of polymyxin resistance in ESBL-producing E. coli in the region and the presence of the mcr-1 gene, examine the epidemiological characteristics of mcr-1-carrying E. coli strains, analyse resistance genes and the genetic environment of drug-resistant strains, and further explore the resistance mechanisms. The findings could provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control of mcr-1 transmission and for guiding the rational use of antibiotics in clinical practice.
