Hybrid timber beam-to-tubular steel column moment connections

Six specimens with two connection types under monotonically increasing bending are studied. The first type uses top and seat angles blind-bolted to the column and connected to the beam with long bolts. The second type involves a steel T-stub slotted into the timber beam and secured with transverse bolts. Two reinforcement techniques for the slotted T-stub are also tested: adding a bottom wedge angle between the beam and column, and using perpendicular-to-grain screws to prevent wood splitting.
