Hypertension control through physician and community health worker home visits in the bateys of the Dominican Republic

This data was collected retrospectively from the electronic medical record of the non-profit organization One World Surgery to evaluate the initial effectiveness of an intervention targeted at severely hypertensive patients identified during charitable field clinics held in the bateys (sugar workers towns) in the eastern Dominican Republic. The data compares systolic and diastolic blood pressure at the beginning and end of the 120-day evaluation period, and describes the following about each patient: age, sex, highest level of education completed, access to local healthcare, awareness of diagnosis of hypertension, and reasons for delayed care seeking,
