General Social Survey, Cycle 14, 2000 [Canada]: Access to and use of Information Communication Technology [Revised]

Cycle 14 of the General Social Survey (GSS)is the first cycle to collect detailed information on access to and use of information communication technology in Canada. Topics include general use of technology and computers, technology in the workplace, development of computer skills, frequency of Internet and E-mail use, non users and security and informationon the Internet. The 1989 (Cycle 4) and the 1994 (Cycle 9) on work and education included some questions on technology use. Because much of the content on work and education is now being covered by other surveys (particularly the Workplace and Employee Survey) and there is considerable interest is measuring the impact of technology on society, Cycle 14 has a specific focus on computer and Internet use.
