Citrus, papaya, and sugarcane are important crops grown in tropical and subtropical regions, where suitable climate, temperature, soil, and seasonal conditions are essential for high productivity. Citrus crops grow best at temperatures of 20–30 °C and are usually planted during the monsoon or spring season in well-drained sandy loam soils with a pH of 5.5–7.5. Citrus is valued for its nutritional and commercial importance but is affected by diseases such as citrus canker, greening, tristeza virus, and gummosis, which are managed through disease-free planting material, resistant rootstocks, and proper orchard sanitation. Papaya requires a warm climate with an optimum temperature of 22–35 °C and is preferably planted during spring or early monsoon. It grows well in well-drained loamy soils with a pH of 6.0–7.0 and is susceptible to diseases like papaya ringspot virus, anthracnose, and powdery mildew, which are controlled using resistant varieties and integrated disease management practices. Sugarcane thrives in a hot and humid climate with temperatures of 20–38 °C, is planted during spring or autumn, and grows best in deep, fertile loamy soils with a pH of 6.5–7.5. Major diseases such as red rot, smut, wilt, and mosaic virus are managed through healthy seed setts, resistant varieties, and proper cultural and chemical control methods.
