Integrating GIS-Based Groundwater Potential Mapping and Geophysical Surveys in Fractured Aquifers: a case study in Brazil

This dataset was developed to support the study “Decision-Support Mapping for Sustainable Groundwater Use in Fractured Urban Aquifers: A GIS and Geophysical Approach in Brazil” and provides the spatial and geophysical information used to identify groundwater exploitation potential in a heterogeneous fractured aquifer system. The dataset compiles geological, geomorphological, hydrogeological, and geophysical attributes integrated within a Geographic Information System (GIS) framework to produce a groundwater potential map for an urban environment.

This dataset aims to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and reuse of the proposed methodology, enabling other researchers, water managers, and planners to apply, adapt, or compare the approach in similar geological and urban contexts. By reducing uncertainties in well siting and supporting sustainable groundwater management, the dataset contributes to broader efforts toward urban water security and the responsible use of fractured aquifer systems.
