Digital Archive from Historic Buildings Recording Work at The Hawthorns, Woodland Road, Bristol, October 2022

This collection comprises images, reports and site records from Descriptive Buildings Record at the University of Bristol building The Hawthorns, 14-16 Woodland Road, Bristol, BS8 1UQ. This work was undertaken by Bristol & Bath Heritage Consultancy Ltd 26-27 October 2022. The Level 2 Building record comprised primarily a building inspection and photographic record with a description of the building's development, accompanied by annotated architect's plans and elevations. The Hawthorns was created in the 20th century by the aggregation, conjoining and extension of six Victorian villas (four fronting onto Woodland Road and two onto Elton Road). These late 19th-century three-storey-plus-basement detached houses had been built in solid masonry construction of locallysourced grey Pennant stone and reddish Brandon grit walls, with oolitic limestone dressings. The later alterations were made in a mixture of stone, renderedfaced brick and other materials, creating a continuous run of four-storey-plus-basement structures.
