Statistical returns were submitted to the Victorian Institute of Colleges by its constituent colleges on an annual basis, providing comprehensive student enrolment and staffing statistics. They were of two types: those submitted to the Institute for forwarding to the Commonwealth Bureau of Census and Statistics or the Australian Commission of Advanced Education - presumably after being checked for completeness and accuracy by the Institute, and those submitted for the use of the Institute itself. They are sometimes accompanied by notes and working papers.The series contains returns submitted to the following bodies for the periods shown:Commonwealth Bureau of Census and Statistics, 1968-1972Australian commission of Advanced Education, 1973Victoria Institute of Colleges, 1973
