An uncharacterized novel lytic phage, Bacillus phage phiBTP1, successfully infective for Bacillus thurngiensis, was identified and its genome was partially sequenced. Some gene products responsible for Bacterial host cell lysis were identified. Such gene products would be worthy of further testing with with Bacillus anthracis, which is closely related to Bacillus thurngiensis and Bacillus cereus.
