Nosocomial transmission of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae elucidated by single-nucleotide variation analysis: a case investigation

We identified three carbapenem-resistanct Klebsiella pneumoniae responsible for a nosocomial transmission involving two cases. To clarify the transmission path of these K. pneumoniae, We performed Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) of these isolates. Single nucleotide variation (SNVs) analysis showed that one of two isolate in case 1 spread to case 2. In addition, WGS were identified not only carbapenem-resistant determinant but also other antimicrobial resistant determinats.
