The main objective of this study is to characterize the microbial diversity (bacteria and archaea) of São Domingos waterbodies potentially affected by AMD and with different level of contamination using the 16s rRNA gene. The taxonomic classification for each site will be tentatively correlated to the chemical characterization of the respective waterbody , aiming to predict the effects of pollution on bacterial diversity.
