Territory: Location of the 2021 Census sections

The reusable database contains the geographical vector representation of the 2021 census sections of the Municipality of Milan.

The census section is the minimum territorial unit of detection of the municipality on the basis of which the census survey is organized. It consists of a single body bounded by a closed broken line. From the census sections it is possible to reconstruct, by sum, the geographical and administrative entities of higher level (inhabited places, sub-municipal areas, constituencies and others). Each census section must be completely contained within one and only one locality. The municipal territory must be exhaustively divided into census sections; the sum of all the census sections reconstructs the entire national territory.
