资源简介:
In October 1997, St. Louis District personnel visited the Georgia Army National Guard (GAARNG) Headquarters, the Georgia Historic Preservation Division in Atlanta, and the Georgia State Site Files in Athens to research archaeological and historic buildings survey work conducted on federally owned or federally supported Army National Guard facilities in the state. Only one facility, Macon Training Site, is currently federally supported. St. Louis District research confirmed that no cultural resources investigations have been conducted on Macon Training Site, although one site is currently located within the facility boundaries.
This document discusses historic contexts and predictive models for Georgia, and provides a list of Native American tribes that may be culturally affiliated to archaeological collections that may be recovered from GAARNG facilities in the future. No cultural properties on the training site have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. No known archeological collections have been made from the Macon Training Site; however, the extent, nature, and location of archaeological collections recovered from work conducted on GAARNG facilities will be verified in the second phase of this project, to be completed during Fiscal Year 1999.
