SECAL - Number of requests to intervene

This table shows the number of applications submitted during the year in question and indicates the number of applications which, on 31 December of the year, are still being processed or have already been closed. The number of new applications fluctuates between 3,500 and 3,600 per year. A first peak took place in 2015, after the legislative amendment which, among other things, removed the income ceiling to obtain advances on support payments. In the second half of 2018, the rules for lodging an application were strengthened: henceforth, each application must be accompanied not only by the enforceable title, but also by the service of that title. This led to a slight decrease in the number of applications in 2018 and especially in 2019. This situation has recovered from 2020 onwards. In 2020, there was a sharp drop in the number of applications closed. This is mainly due to the introduction of a new computer application that allows to process several changes within the same application without having to restart the application concerned.
