Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhi strain:RR051 Genome sequencing and assembly

Extensively drug resistant Salmonella typhi (XDR-S. Typhi) poses a growing global threat, with an uncontrolled outbreak currently emerging in Pakistan. We report a case of a young girl who developed enteric fever following a visit to Islamabad, Pakistan. This isolate was resistant to all first line antibiotics. Whole genome sequencing revealed the isolate to be phylogenetically related to the previously reported outbreak and contained a segment of a previously reported plasmid carrying the bla¬CTX-M-15 and qnrS resistance genes.
