"The Sample 0001 AINPP-PB-LATAM-DS dataset provides a compact, self-contained example of the AINPP Precipitation Benchmark for Latin America, designed to support reproducible research in precipitation analysis, nowcasting, and multi-source data integration. The dataset covers the period from 1 to 31 January 2024 at hourly resolution and spans the Latin American domain from 55\u00b0S to 33\u00b0N and 120\u00b0W to 23\u00b0W on a regular 0.10\u00b0 \u00d7 0.10\u00b0 grid. It integrates two complementary precipitation sources: (i) GSMaP-NRT satellite-based precipitation estimates and (ii) a gridded rain-gauge product derived from national and regional in-situ networks coordinated by CPTEC\/INPE and partner institutions. All fields are harmonized onto a common spatial grid and stored as a spatiotemporal data cube in Zarr format with compressed, consolidated metadata to enable scalable, cloud-ready access using Python and xarray. In addition, the package includes a DuckDB database containing a subset of precipitation system tracking information for the same temporal window, facilitating joint analyses of gridded precipitation fields and object-based diagnostics. Distributed as a single compressed archive, this sample dataset illustrates the data structures, metadata conventions, and access patterns adopted by the AINPP benchmark, and serves as a reference for method development, testing, and interoperability across computing environments."
