Buffalo - Dynamic Tests of Single Joint with Joshua-Tree Ground Motions

Single-joint dynamic tests with the Joshua-Tree (J-T) ground motion were performed on both joints of the pipe specimen. The J-T ground motion has the characteristics of a far-field ground motion, which contains several spikes with different amplitudes. This type of ground motion was selected to investigate the dynamic behavior of the lined joints under the transient ground deformations with continuous displacement pulses. In this set of tests, the J-T motion with several different amplitudes was used as input motions.
