The European Peatland Policy Dataset

This dataset (in XLSX and JSON formats) represents a static snapshot of the European Peatland Policy Dataset, as of July 2026. This snapshot contains 571 peatland-affecting policies catalogued across 28 countries (EU member states + UK) and 22 languages, spanning United Nations, European Union, national, and sub-national levels. Each element of the table or json list contains metadata about the policy. The most up-to-date JSON of the European Peatland Policy Portal's Policy Dataset can be accessed on our website at this data endpoint: https://peatlandpolicyportal.eu/policydata Please note: The JSON version of the dataset contains all data displayed on the Policy Profile pages (including table of contents, excerpts, and publishers), whereas the XLSX version contains the essential data for identifying the policy as well as the date of the policy's first addition to our dataset (creation date) and its most recent update/submission to the live portal (published date). The inclusion of the creation date and publishing date are meant to provide transparency for the policy collection process (i.e. what policies were collected when).
