Large-scale laboratory observations of transient wave dissipation from idealized mangrove forest

Starting in November 2020, a team of researchers from Oregon State University and the Naval Academy compiled a series of experiments at the Oregon State University, O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory in the Large Wave Flume with full-scale physical mangrove models, to determine the dampening effects of mangrove trees on waves. This report examines the attenuation on transient waves and determines transmission coefficients for a variety of densities. Further reports on these experiments look at regular waves, irregular waves, and all those with the addition of a sea wall.
