Supporting data for “Research Misconduct in Chinese Universities: An Institutional and Emotional Analysis”

This thesis aims to answer the question: "Why do Chinese scholars engage in research misconduct even though they have precepted it as unethical?" The PhD candidate has gathered faculty members, administrators, and research postgraduate students from three Chinese universities in two geographical areas, Beijing and <i>the Area</i> (a place in Northeastern China).The candidate collected data mainly through in-depth semi- and non-structured online and in-person interviews. He also collected supplementary data from published national announcements, public news media, social media platforms, and friends' collections.This dataset includes two parts: interview data and supplementary materials (e.g., official announcements and published news). The interview transcripts indicate the communication between the candidate and participants (i.e., university faculty members, administrators, and research postgraduate students) during the interviews. The information also covers secrets that these interviewees only want to share with the candidate. All sensitive parts in these transcripts are modified and coded.The supplementary data are all published materials that do not have issues of privacy.The dataset is not open to the public due to consent.
