Miscellaneous

Objects in the miscellaneous dataset are grouped together because their interesting, unusual, or otherwise distinctive characteristics distinguish them from items in other DAP datasets. Wilshusen et al. (1999:99) indicate that these items include minerals, fossils, petrified wood, feathers, and eggshell. Users will also find records for human remains in this dataset. Computer instructions for accessing this dataset, on file at the Anasazi Heritage Center, are perhaps the best means of obtaining a more detailed description for most of these miscellaneous records; Stodder's (1987) treatment of DAP Anasazi burial practices is one exception. The dataset itself is not particularly complicated; limited descriptions of each item are linked to the standard provenience information used in most DAP datasets.
