The Relationship between Corporate Purpose and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This thesis develops an explanatory model of the relationship between corporate purpose and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), drawing on case studies of 16 large companies in Australia and Japan. The explanatory model identifies multiple pathways that companies can take when implementing their corporate purpose and the SDGs, and the influence of various factors such as organizations’ perspectives of corporate purpose, the implementation levels of the SDGs, and the institutional context.
