This is an existing vegetation map dataset developed to survey and document the current status of nationwide vegetation, compiled during the Basic Survey for Natural Environment Conservation carried out by the Biodiversity Center, Ministry of the Environment, Government of Japan. Vegetation maps that depict community units on topographic maps based on phytosociological principles are recognized as critical foundational data for environmental assessment and the formulation of natural environment conservation policies.
