Radiosonde measurements collected during the MAESTRO field campaign at SAL (CABO VERDE) from august 9, 2024 to september 11, 2024. For the atmospheric soundings at SAL, the MAESTRO project benefited from the access to the National Instrument Moyens Mobiles, which is part of the research infrastructure ACTRIS-FR. Measurements have been realised thanks to the support of the ERC-Advanced Grant MAESTRO (PI:S Bony) and the LEFE project ILSOM (PI: F Couvreux). This dataset contains coordinates, air temperature, dew point temperature, relative humidity (rh), atmospheric pressure (P), wind direction and speed, quality flag and ascent/descent rate of measuring device from the M20 sonde by Modem. Quality flag meaning: 0=none interpolation, 1=GPS interpolation, 2=RADIO interpolation, 3=humidity interpolation and 4=temperature interpolation Eoscan software version 2.1.241218 was used to reprocess data after the field campaign => MAESTRO/OCESTRA operational center website should not be used to access atmospheric soundings data. Latitude and longitude data are converted from radians to decimal degrees. The acquisition frequency is 1 Hrz, with a regular time base applied during post-processing. Water vapor mixing ratio is calculated with the method below: 1) compute pressure at saturation (e_s) with the French AFNOR standard (NFX15-110, page 12): e_s = 10² * e^(a0/T + a1 + (a2 + a3 * T) * T + a4 * log(T)) avec a0=-6096.9385, a1 = 21.2409642, a2 = -2.711193 * 10^(-2), a3 = 1.673952 * 10^(-5), a4 = 2.433502 and log(x): natural logarithm of x 2) compute vapor pressure with the definition of rh: e = rh * e_s 3) compute the mixing ratio (rv) with 0.622 * e / (P-e) ==> rv = rh * 0.622 * e_s / (P - rh * e_s) Be aware that for atmospheric soundings at 16/08 22:28UTC and 30/08 19:24UTC, the ascent rate is considered too low by Eoscan software.
