Data from multi-stage relaxation test and distributed optical fiber sensing

Understanding the transient deformation response of brittle rocks during stress relaxation helps to explain the underlying mechanism of ground movement in the post-event phase. A multi-stage relaxation test was performed to investigate time-dependent deformation and transient strain rate deceleration. Distributed fiber optic sensing was applied to a cylindrical granodiorite sample, using standard single-mode fibers helically wrapped around the sample for precise strain measurements.
